Wedding traditions have been around for centuries, but couples are now breaking free from these age-old customs and embracing a new wave of untraditional wedding trends. From daring wedding attire to unconventional wedding decor, couples are choosing to personalize their big day to reflect their unique personalities and styles. In this blog, we’ll explore five untraditional wedding trends in 2023 that are shaking up the traditional wedding scene.

When it comes to wedding attire, the traditional white dress and black suit are no longer the only options. Modern brides are embracing bold and vibrant colors, and even black wedding dresses, while grooms are experimenting with patterns such as checkerboard or florals and even white suits. The groomsmen are also ditching the solid tie or bow and opting for patterned ones that match the wedding’s theme as bridesmaids go for patterned dresses as well. The patterns can even be matched to the table top decor or other elements throughout the day to create a cohesive and stylish look. So, whether you’re a bride who wants to make a statement in a colorful gown or a groom who wants to add some personality to their attire, untraditional wedding attire is the way to go.

Couples are seeking to create memorable moments on their big day, and one way to achieve this is by incorporating wow-factors into their wedding day transformations. Instead of a bride just changing out of her dress from the ceremony into another for the reception, we have seen brides making drastic alterations such as cutting the ceremony dress short for the reception or even cutting their hair short between the ceremony and reception for a new look altogether. Other wow-factor transformations include having a tattoo artist for the bride and groom to get day-of ink or a glitter bar at the reception for guests to add some pizzazz to their party attire. Whether an entire wardrobe change or one-of-a-kind guests experiences, couples are finding new and innovative ways to make their wedding day unforgettable.

Wedding traditions have always been a part of the big day, but couples are now breaking free from the old ways of doing things. Some couples are opting to get ready together, breaking the age-old tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony. The wedding party is more inclusive than ever before, with grooms-people and brides-people replacing bridesmaids and groomsmen. Some couples are shying away from the traditional vows in front of everyone and instead saving those for stolen moments away from all of the wedding guests. Untraditional wedding photographers are capturing candid moments instead of only posed group shots of the couple and their families. Photographers even now use 3-D photo booths to create lifelike memory keepsakes to last a lifetime for the couple and their guests. With these unique changes, couples can make their wedding day truly reflective of their own personalities and desires.

Wedding decor is no longer just about traditional colors and flowers. Couples are now embracing vibrant colors and textures, live plants as decor, and large scale flower arrangements made up of abundant micro florals. They’re bringing in elements that were once considered only for rave-style parties, like architecture and live performers in themed costumes serving hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Lighting is also an integral part of the decor, setting the mood and creating the perfect ambiance. Vibrant colors and textures in tablecloths, napkins, candles, vases, and other decor elements are the cherry on top for a unique, artistic wedding atmosphere.

For some couples, eloping or having an intimate ceremony with just a few close people is a much better option than a high-pressure large scale wedding. Some of these couples are choosing unique settings, such as bridges, mountain tops, or even jumping out of airplanes, to exchange their vows. With the pressure of traditional weddings removed, couples having more casual and intimate experiences ensure positive memories and stress-free feelings towards one of the happiest days of their lives forever.
Wedding trends are constantly evolving, and couples are no longer bound by tradition. From bold wedding attire to unique decor and intimate elopements, the possibilities are endless. The wedding industry is shifting towards embracing individuality and personality, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. If you’re planning your wedding, don’t be afraid to break free from tradition and make it your own. Remember, it’s your day, and it should reflect your unique style and personality.
